Cambridgeshire Wedding Venues

by Nigel Cooper

Every bride wants her wedding day to be perfect, but when it comes to weddings it can all unravel pretty quickly if the venue isn’t right. A less than glamorous wedding venue can quickly derail the beautiful occasion you’d imagined.

Hundreds of brides choose to hold their weddings in Cambridge every year, and for good reason. Cambridgeshire is home to some of the most stunning wedding venues in the UK. As a Cambridge wedding photographer myself I know most of them intimately. Let me run through some of my favourites.

Oh, if you’re looking for a professional Cambridge wedding photographer then drop me a line, my contact details are across the footer of the website.

Lanwades Hall, Newmarket

This stunning Tudor manor house has been voted one of the best wedding venues in the UK. Sitting proudly at the end of a sweeping tree lined driveway, the grand mansion offers up a host of different weddings including civil ceremonies. You don’t have to go with one of their set packages, you can customise your wedding day as you like. In addition to the gorgeous hall, you and your guests can also enjoy the sunken garden, terrace, orchard and lawns, which surround the building.

Bedford Lodge Hotel and Spa

This Newmarket hotel has previously been voted the best wedding venue in East Anglia. The four star luxury hotel and spa was recognised for its country charm and character whilst offering the very best in modern comfort and luxury, providing the perfect blend of old and new in a beautiful country setting. Set in three acres of secluded gardens, the hotel sits adjacent to the Newmarket Racecourse training paddocks, which are some of the most famous in the world. As well as providing the perfect venue for wedding receptions, the Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa is fully licensed for civil ceremonies.

Quy Mill Hotel & Spa

The Quy Mill Hotel & Spa offers everything you need for a wedding location. It also offers luxury accommodation to guests, including use of the hotel's extensive spa and health club. Say ‘I do’ in the unique Waterwheel room, or surround yourselves in the beautiful landscaped gardens. Quy Mill also holds multiple wedding open days throughout the year, giving you the chance to see the beautiful venue for yourself.

Longstowe Hall

Located in the quaint surroundings of Longstowe, the hall is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is ideally located just 10 miles west of Cambridge. The Hall itself dates back to the days of Queen Elizabeth I. The building is hidden behind ancient woodland, which then opens into a classic English garden, making the perfect location for incredible wedding photographs. There are two options for the exchanging of vows: the indoor Rose Ball Room, or the island on the main lake. Both are absolutely romantic for completely different reasons. You can accommodate up to 150 guests in the traditional marquee in the gardens and you are also guaranteed exclusive use of the Rose Ball. The venue is open for wedding bookings between April and October.

Rectory Farm

Surrounded by 50 acres of manicured gardens and located directly next to the River Cam, Rectory Farm is an idyllic country venue. It is also conveniently situated just two miles from the city centre. Rectory Farm comes with the added benefit of being one of the city's most highly regarded hotels, and can offer bedrooms to wedding guests after your amazing wedding day. The hotel's extensive lawns and gardens make for a glamorous setting for your wedding photography and the bridal suite at the neighbouring Rectory Farm country house is the perfect place for any bride-to-be to spend the night.

Swynford Manor

It’s back to Newmarket for this next elegant location. Swynford Manor is caked in luxury throughout. From the bridal preparation room to the extensive terrace, this magnificent manor is filled with high-class accommodation, making it one of the region's most prestigious. The venue can accommodate up to 150 guests in the Garden Room, which is the ultimate reception location complete with a sparkling dance floor and a thrilling contemporary design in juxtaposition with the manor's historical origins.

Anstey Hall

Heading back towards Cambridge, Anstey Hall is a striking Victorian mansion house and one of the city's most well known wedding venues. It has earned this reputation for a reason – the Hall is simply stunning, both inside and out.
